I can Hear Them But Not See Them...

I can Hear Them But Not See Them...
War Set. It depicts the grandmother standing at the porch as she anxiously looks to the sky where the roaring sound of jet engines penetrate the tranquil surroundings. However, all is black and she can only hear the bombers. She waits... and prays.

The 2nd image shows the same situation, fast forward a few months, Since her last encounter she has witnessed first hand the death and destruction the war can cause. Blood, grief and anger are all summed up in her delicate yet menacing red eyes.

Private...

Inspired by Nigel Peake, this illustration was drawn from a photograph I took in 2007.

Will Good triumph?

Will Good triumph?, originally uploaded by Jamie Davies.
Part of my 'War' set highlighting the Blitz in Liverpool during WW2. After hearing yet another siren in the distance, the Grandmother wonders 'Will Good ever prevail?'.

Chinatown (I)

As you can see, the majority of my early work was promoting Liverpool into the wake of Capital of Culture in 2008. I decided to branch of and create a mini series focusing specifically on Chinatown and it's wonders...

Welcome to the Albert Dock

Another graphics piece here. I was asked to create a panoramic leaflet welcoming tourists to the Albert Dock in Liverpool. After producing a single dry point I manipulated it via Photoshop. I created a series of images and narrowed them down to three designs. After much consideration I chose to use the second design, though it was a very tough decision!

Anything to Declare?

Okay, so this is my first proper post if you like...
I created this back in 2007 as part of a Graphic Design project highlighting the vast majority of places throughout Liverpool being overlooked, even though the city would soon be known as the Capital of Culture. I then added to it, turning it from a straigh illustration into a leaflet:

Introduction

Hi, welcome to my blog. He I will post my latest work, thoughts and ideas for you to share, review and enjoy!

Ever since I can remember I have drawn. On anything. The majority of the time I had only my thoughts and a standard HB pencil. I would empty my head on to a desk, a chair, a ruler or even the margin on a sheet of writing paper- basically anything that had drawing space was duly scribbled upon. If you look through all my old sketchbooks and work books they are packed with little doodles spread across the page often with a scribbly note and arrow in red ink saying 'Stop This!'

But I just can't bear to an idea inside, I have to publish it... even if it means destroying your last piece of homework or graffiti-ing a ruler in the process. Ultimately, this blog will show a record of past projects and thoughts including illustrations, rough plans and photographs.

Comments are welcome in any case :)
